BIRKO GROUP OF COMPANIES

BIRKO INC., founded in 1972 with the initiatives of few Koyunlu Town members, has now been grown into BIRKO GROUP with its subdivisions BIRKO INC., BIRKOKOYUNLU INC., BIRKO ENERGY INC. and KOYUNLU TEKSTIL INC. BIRKO GROUP has exceeded the expectations of the founders by outgrowing tremendous proportions and now is the source of employment for many people in and out of the Koyunlu/Niğde area.

When started in 1975, the initial production of cotton yarn was only intended and sold for the domestic market. But now, BIRKO GROUP with its annual export of $20-25 million US Dollars, is one of the prominent players in the nations textile industry. The export market spans from east to west, of which European countries presents the largest market share. In 1981 Woollen establishments started functioning under BIRKO INC. Then BIRKOKOYUNLU INC. was formed to better serve in the carpet sector for the domestic market as well as the international market. The success of BIRKOYUNLU INC. has been increasing to a better level.

One of the other group companies is KOYUNLU TEKSTIL INC., that was founded in 1981. KOYUNLU TEKSTIL INC. markets Koyunlu Carpets nationwide with its wide distribution network.

BIRKO GROUP started another journey with the purpose of producing its own energy requirement. BIRKO ENERGY INC. was founded in the year 2000 and started generating an annual electrical energy supply of 86.000.000 kwh. BIRKO GROUP is still investing in further projects. The second combed yarn mill of 13.000 spindles was put into operation in April 2002 and combed compact yarn mill was initiated in May 2003 under the establishment of BIRKO INC.
